genocide memorial - extremely emotional, graphic and improtant museum about what took place in the 90's and before. as much as I didn't want to go, because I didn't feel like crying that day I'm glad I did.

hotel des mille collines - also known as hotel rwanda where that movie is based on. I had their lunch buffett for 30,000 rwandan (roughly $20 USD and i thought it was very good)

Cafes

Kivu Noir - definitely the cool place where people convene and hang out. gorgeous setting

Indabo Cafe Kiyovu - gorgeous setting, a nice art studio upstiars. families and solo workers mostly the day I went. I enjoyed the food a lot.

Rooftop Ikawa Cafe - amazing african tea and coffee

rubia - large setting, straight up a place to work. so many people have their laptops out. I wasn't too keen on the sandwiches.

gihanga institute is perhaps the most beautiful building - its also right next to Kivu Noir which is. a very swaggy

Out of the City

Highly recommend going to lake Kivu - staying at Serena Hotel is a very popular option and included in most tour packages, I however didn't go so I can't say.

We drove 3.5 hours to Lake Kivu, took almost a 2 hour boat ride to kininu guest house where we saw the whole process of coffee farming, the machinery used to seperate the and sort the beans, how they're dried and roasted.

then we went to the hot springs - its only 5,000 rwandan to enter - elss than $4, but 40,000 for the "full experience" which includes a full body scrub and they bury you into the mud. its basically a humiliton ritual because everyone gathers around you and stares.

the msot luxurious options, if you're really rich youre most likely staying at 1 of these 2 options :)
